“Future transport scenarios in the Baltic Sea Region with focus on the maritime aspects”

Date: 5 September Time: 13:00-18:00

BSR InnoShip project invites you  to take part in a workshop organized in co-operation with CleanShip and back-to-back with TransBaltic final conference. The workshop aspires to gather experts to exchange their views on the changing operation environment of transport in the EU and especially on the Baltic Sea region, with a special focus on the maritime transport chain.

The topics will cover different aspects of marine, road and rail transport, concentrating mainly in development of future transport trends, the forthcoming legislation and EU strategies directing towards more sustainable ways of transport. The future markets, cargo flows, infrastructure, economic impacts of new legislation and development needs have been the focus of several EU-funded projects, and therefore it is important to collect the scenarios in the same forum, where they can be discussed and compared to find the synergies and to recognize the most sensitive and important variables.

The presentations consist of the following subjects:

  • Future scenarios of transport from different projects; building a consensus of future trends in the Baltic Sea region
  • Economic impact of new international legislation concerning transport (Euro Vignette, sulphur directive etc.)
    • Price development of fuels (diesel, middle distillates, HFO) in the changing operation environment
    • The changing demand of fuel qualities and its effect on the prices
  • EU transport strategy
    • TEN-T
    • The pressure to abate GHG emissions of transport
  • Role of Russia in BSR transport

The workshop is targeted to decision-makers, researchers and experts in multimodal transport. Participation is free of charge but requires registration which is done in same registration form as for TransBaltic conference. The workshop is also arranged at the same venue as TransBaltic final conference
